Building A New Home Removes The Renovation Risk

Building a new home is a much safer option than renovating. Firstly, you avoid all the hidden problems waiting behind the walls. Plus, you know what your timeline, processes and budget are right from the beginning which gives you peace of mind.

Knocking down your existing home and building a new one gives you true freedom too. You can customise your design so it matches your lifestyle perfectly. Brand-new, with every luxury and convenience you could ever want.

Lower cost & Lower risk

It’s generally cheaper (per square metre) to build a new home than to extend or renovate your old home. Melbourne and Geelong are experiencing shortages of residential land in inner-city suburbs. Knocking down and rebuilding is a growing trend that is saving families money. With a knockdown rebuild project you get a fresh, modern, energy-efficient home for less than the cost of a renovation project.

A knockdown rebuild is less risky than renovating. Renovations are known for running over time and over budget. The biggest problem is that you never know what you’re going to uncover when you pull up the floorboards! This ‘unknown’ factor means that your renovation is more likely to take longer and run into unforeseen construction challenges resulting in ‘hidden’ costs that exceed budget.

The knockdown rebuild process

IHA has been managing KDR projects for many years. You benefit from our experience as we guide you through the three main stages: Pre site, construction & warranty. You’ll love our easy-to-understand knockdown rebuild process - it outlines every step of the journey with full transparency - so you know exactly what to expect and when.

Step 1
Meet your expert team

Once you have a fairly good idea which home design you’d like to build, the IHA team meet with you to discuss the plans and any possible customisations.

Step 2
Signing your tender

Now that the scope of the work has been agreed, we prepare a tender document to give us permission to start drawing up the final contract and making other preparations.

Step 3
Making your colour selection

One of the most enjoyable parts of the home build process is meeting with our interior designers to choose the colour scheme for your new home.

Step 4
Signing your contract

While you’re having fun envisaging the décor of your new home, we prepare the final contract so that building can begin. The contract covers all proposed costs and we take you through it to make sure everything is as agreed.

Step 5
Getting your permits

Our experienced staff take the anxiety and confusion out of getting the right permits for demolition and new building work, so you can rest easy and leave it to us.

Step 6
Knockdown

We arrange the demolition and site clearing, so that’s another thing you don’t need to worry about. Any sadness about saying goodbye to an old residence is surely outweighed by the excitement of what will soon appear in its place.

Step 7
Starting the new build

Now the fun really begins. Throughout the building process, you are welcome on-site, and you will also receive regular updates from your Customer Liaison Officer on the progress of your build.

Step 8
Getting the keys to your new home

After a thorough inspection to make sure everything is finished to our satisfaction as well as yours, we take great pride in Handing over the keys to your new home.

Step 9
Staying in touch

We want to make sure the livability of your new Infinity home stands the test of time. As you settle in, we’ll stay in touch to make sure you’re happy with every aspect of the stylish new residence at your old address.
